The verdict
- Pick Semrush if you need keyword research, rank tracking, backlinks and competitor data, and want the site audit in the same account.
- Pick Semrush if you want audits that run in the cloud on a daily or weekly schedule with nobody's laptop involved.
- Pick bseoa if the site audit is what you use: $279 once against $1,408 a year for Semrush's cheapest annual plan, with no monthly page quota or 20,000-page per-audit cap.
- Pick bseoa if you need JavaScript rendering without paying for Pro+ ($299 a month), or a CLI and raw JSON for scripts and CI.
- Use both if Semrush is your keyword and backlink tool: keep it for research and run bseoa for full-site crawls, rendered pages and AI-readiness checks.
Pricing
Semrush Site Audit
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Site Audit limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 100 pages per month, 100 per audit; 1 demo project |
| SEO | $139 | $117.33 a month billed annually (about $1,408) | Not stated on the prices page |
| Starter | $199 | $165.17 a month billed annually (about $1,982) | 100,000 pages per month, 20,000 per audit, no JavaScript rendering |
| Pro+ | $299 | $248.17 a month billed annually (about $2,978) | 300,000 pages per month, 20,000 per audit, JavaScript rendering |
| Advanced | Custom | Custom | 1,000,000 pages per month, 100,000 per audit, JavaScript rendering |
Site Audit limits are not on the prices page. Semrush's help center publishes them per SEO Toolkit tier and says Semrush One Starter includes the Pro toolkit, Pro+ includes Guru and Advanced includes Business; the rows above use that mapping. The help center prices SEO Toolkit Pro at $139.95 a month with 100,000 pages, but does not say whether the $139 SEO plan on the prices page is the same thing, so its limit is shown as not stated. Additional users start at $45 a month, there is a 7-day trial, and unused pages do not roll over.

0. bseoa has no scheduler of its own. The CLI runs headless, so a cron line or a Windows scheduled task gives you recurring crawls, and two stored crawls can be compared after each run.
1. Semrush says JavaScript rendering in Site Audit is available with a Guru or Business SEO Toolkit subscription, which Semrush One Pro+ and Advanced include. Starter and the free plan crawl without rendering. Sources: Configuring Site Audit, pages per audit.
2. Site Audit exports to Excel, CSV and PDF, with export volume depending on plan. A Site Audit endpoint exists in Semrush's Projects API; the prices page lists API data integration on Advanced. Sources: How Site Audit works, Site Audit API, prices.
3. Site Audit's setup connects Google Analytics to highlight issues on top pages; its help pages do not describe a Search Console connection for Site Audit. Search Console data can be combined in My Reports. Sources: Configuring Site Audit, How Site Audit works.
4. Semrush MCP is an official app in ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity and also connects to Gemini, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code. Starter, Pro+ and the classic Pro and Guru plans include 50,000 MCP API units; Advanced needs an add-on. The help page lists keyword, organic and paid, competitive, traffic and backlink data, and does not list Site Audit data. Source: Semrush KB: MCP.
5. Semrush's AI Search Health score checks whether AI crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot are blocked in robots.txt, and technical readiness including schema, internal links and llms.txt. The page does not mention author, date or JavaScript-dependent content checks. Source: AI Search Health in Site Audit.
Where Semrush Site Audit wins
- Everything around the audit: keyword research, position tracking, a backlink database, competitor traffic and AI-visibility tracking in one account.
- Cloud scheduling. Audits re-run daily or weekly on Semrush's servers and nothing has to be installed.
- A free plan that audits 100 pages a month with no time limit.
- An official MCP app listed in ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity for keyword and backlink questions.
- A Log File Analyzer and AI Search Health score in the same product.
Where bseoa wins
- Cost when the audit is what you need: $279 once against about $4,224 over three years for the cheapest annual Semrush plan.
- No page quotas. Semrush caps audits at 20,000 pages on Starter and Pro+ and 100,000 on Advanced, with monthly page budgets on top; a bseoa license has no crawl limit.
- JavaScript rendering on the base license, where Semrush needs Pro+ at $299 a month.
- A CLI and raw data: JSON, JSONL, CSV and XML exports and a local SQLite crawl store for scripts and CI.
- AI-readiness checks that go past robots.txt and llms.txt: visible bylines and dates and content that needs JavaScript, 26 checks in all. The assistant can also start the crawl through bseoa's connector.
Who should pick which
- Agency: Semrush if you sell keyword research, rank tracking and link building; its audit comes with that. Add bseoa when client sites are larger than Semrush's per-audit caps or need rendering on a plan below Pro+.
- In-house technical SEO: bseoa for the crawl, Semrush only if the marketing team already pays for it and wants keyword and backlink data.
- Developer: bseoa. A CLI, JSON output and local MCP server in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Codex fit a deploy pipeline; Semrush runs only in its own cloud.
- Enterprise: Semrush Advanced or Enterprise if you need multi-million-page cloud crawling with custom limits and API integration. bseoa as a cheap, scriptable crawler for engineering teams beside it.
