Screaming Frog vs WebSite Auditor (SEO PowerSuite)

By · Published

Screaming Frog SEO Spider and SEO PowerSuite’s WebSite Auditor are both desktop crawlers with a 500-URL free version, and both cost a yearly subscription to go past that limit. WebSite Auditor is cheaper ($149 a year for Professional) and adds on-page content optimization; Screaming Frog ($279 a year) is the deeper technical crawler, with more configuration, a command line, and data export in every paid license. If you need to export crawl data to CSV, note that WebSite Auditor only includes that in its $359 Enterprise edition.

Prices and limits below were checked on 31 October 2026 on each vendor’s own pricing page.

What do Screaming Frog and WebSite Auditor cost?

Screaming Frog SEO Spider WebSite Auditor
Free version Yes, 500 URLs Yes, 500 URLs
Entry paid plan $279 per user per year Professional, $149 per year
Higher plan Volume discounts: $265, $249, $235 per license Enterprise, $359 per year
Bundle No SEO PowerSuite Professional $349/year, Enterprise $599/year
Paid crawl limit “Unlimited”, dependent on memory and storage Unlimited
Three-year cost, one user $837 $447 (Professional) or $1,077 (Enterprise)
Platforms Windows, Mac, Ubuntu Linux Windows, Mac, Linux

Sources: Screaming Frog pricing, WebSite Auditor license comparison, WebSite Auditor product page. Checked on 31 October 2026. The three-year figures are the yearly list price times three; SEO PowerSuite also lists multi-year bundle prices ($717 for three years of Professional, $1,377 for Enterprise) on the same comparison page.

What does each paid tier actually unlock?

This is where the headline prices mislead.

Screaming Frog. The user guide says a license “removes the 500 URL crawl limit” and adds saving and opening crawls, scheduling, JavaScript rendering, custom extraction and other advanced features. There’s one paid tier. Everything is in it.

WebSite Auditor. The license comparison page splits features across three tiers:

Feature Free Professional ($149) Enterprise ($359)
Crawl and audit 500 URLs Unlimited Unlimited
Saving projects Yes Unlimited Unlimited
Scheduled SEO tasks Yes Yes Yes
Printing reports Yes Yes, with watermarks Yes
Saving, emailing, scheduling reports No No Yes
Data export (.csv, .sql, .html) No No Yes

So the $149 Professional license crawls without a limit but, according to the comparison table, doesn’t export data files or save reports without watermarks. The product page says “Professionals can export data in CSV, SQL, PDF, and HTML formats,” which contradicts the table. I’d ask SEO PowerSuite before buying Professional for exports. If you need clean exports for clients, budget for Enterprise.

Does each one render JavaScript?

Screaming Frog renders JavaScript with a paid license, per its user guide. WebSite Auditor’s product page lists “Execute JavaScript” among its crawl settings but doesn’t say which edition includes it, and the comparison page doesn’t mention rendering at all. Test it on your site during the free version before paying.

Where does WebSite Auditor win?

  • Price at the entry tier. $149 a year is about half of Screaming Frog’s $279.
  • Content optimization. WebSite Auditor includes in-app content editing with SEO suggestions while you type, and a competitor on-page breakdown. Screaming Frog is a crawler and doesn’t try to be a content tool.
  • The bundle. If you also want SEO PowerSuite’s other tools, including rank tracking and backlink research, the bundle is $349 a year at Professional, $200 more than WebSite Auditor alone.

Where does Screaming Frog win?

  • Exports in every paid license. No second tier to unlock CSV.
  • Configuration depth. Custom extraction, custom search, many crawl settings, and integrations with Search Console, Google Analytics and PageSpeed Insights, listed on its pricing page.
  • Command line. Screaming Frog runs from the command line and in headless mode for scheduled exports, so it fits into scripts.
  • Community. It’s the crawler most technical SEO guides assume you’re using.

Which should you pick?

You need Pick
A cheap unlimited crawl to look at issues in the app WebSite Auditor Professional
Crawl data exported to CSV for clients or scripts Screaming Frog, or WebSite Auditor Enterprise
Rank tracking and backlinks with the crawler SEO PowerSuite bundle
Deep technical configuration and a CLI Screaming Frog

Both renew every year. If you want a crawler you pay for once, bseoa is a desktop crawler with a GUI and command line for Windows, macOS and Linux. It renders JavaScript with headless Chrome, exports HTML, CSV, XML and JSON on every license, and has no page limit, for $279 once. It has no rank tracking, no backlink data and no content editor, so it doesn’t replace the PowerSuite bundle if those are why you’re looking at it. The 14-day trial has every feature and no page limit.
